First let’s face up to the bad news, news I think we already know even as we try to sweep it under a carpet of silence, run away, and deny it all. But it’s not the end of the story. Everything us impermanent as so is this.
I have said before that the ‘Great Reset’ of the world’s economy, proclaimed by ‘Prince’ (now ‘king’) Charles in 2030 is an utter disaster for planet and people. It denies living reality and pretends that everyone and everything, even us is a sort of computer system that can be centrally controlled and ‘reset’. I wonder if Charles realised what he was doing?
The Great Reset was claimed to be the inevitable result of the ‘opportunity’ provided by the pandemic. It was a project of the world’s most exclusive club, the World Economic Forum.
According to Klaus Schwab, the Great Reset has 5 elements:
- A new social contract. It is of course a ‘deemed’ contract because our approval was not sought. It has been called the new feudalism, because it hands all power and wealth to the oligarchs and makes us completely dependent on their philanthropy. However thye, unlike the old feudal lords, have no obligation to us.
- ‘Decarbonisation‘. THis assumes that the problems of the planet are all caused by excess CO2, and that the only way to reduce Co2 levels are to hand over all control to them. We are to be completely dependent and controlled, presented to us as necessary to save us from the terrifying planet with its weather systems, it viruses, and so on, but in reality to turn us into mere ‘human resources’ to be exploited and thrown away like rainforests, oceans, the entire planet. It’s just the same attitude. Privacy is – they tell us – no longer possible. Everything we do, say, even think, is already starting to be monitored by them. The 5G network is a key part of this. It’s why it is being forcibly rolled out, and opposition is barely tolerated.
- The ‘4th Industrial Revolution‘ asserts that biology can be made to obey technology – and of course technology can be made to obey its inventors and controllers, the hyper-wealthy plutocrats, gathered at Davos to rule the world. Implanted with nanotechnology, we’ll do as we are told.
- Companies move from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder capitalism. This is happening right now. Shareholders are being bought out. The 1% are buying everything up. Apparently competing brands have the same owners. Vanguard, one of their investment funds, already owns the biggest stakes in the biggest corporations. Other investment funds hold stakes too, to give the appearance of diversity, but their owners are the same. It means that the only stakeholders are the hyper-rich. We’ll own nothing and we’ll (apparently) be happy. They can take whatever they like, and there is no check on them at all. Everything will be available as a subscription service that can be withdrawn at any time. Money becomes controlled debt and credit, accessible only on payent of fees. In a version of the old ‘Truck’ system. we will be allowed small quantities in the form of state ‘welfare’ if we do as we are told, and spend it where they approve. There will be no savings because the money will simply expite after a certain amount of time if not spent.
- Global co-operation means that veryone, including governments and even international bodies like the WHO, must ‘co-operate’ or suffer the consequences.
Well, it doesn’t look like a very appealing prospectus to me. With the power of behavioural psychology the population is herded into two camps: if you believe in climate change (and I do), you must apparently submit to totalitarianism because it’s the only way to ‘save the planet’. If you decline to submit, you must be a climate denier , a right wing ‘libertarian’, a Trump supporter, in the pay of the oil industry. They play both sides, just as they have done on other divisive issues. The one things we cannot be allowed to questiion is their absolute right to rule absolutely, and check the ‘facts’: as George Orwell put it in Animal Farm,
“Four legs good, two legs better! All Animals Are Equal. But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others.”
Kings and plutocrats do not believe in sharing power or wealth at all. As little as possible is allowed to ‘trickle down’. Their agenda is not something we are permitted to question. Everything, the entire ecosystem is – they believe – theirs to do as they please with. Even our bodies and minds are there to be colonised, exploited, and discarded when no longer profitable to them.
It is all simply the inevitable result of their nihilistic philosophy in which struggling for complete domination and control is the only reason to exist. The winner takes all. The ‘fittest’ to survive in their world are the nastiest, most ruthless, most destructive. There is absolutely no place for ethics, decency, trust, peace, kindness, or happiness. It is an addiction to power. It is the belief that ‘If I can’t have it, nobody will’.
This is the nihilistic philosophy that is really the cause of our planetary crisis. I have shared in previous blogs some thoughts on its possible historical development. It is simply a philosophy of violence and fear, and it has nothing else to offer. The poor, and ‘unproductive’ are just a cost to be eliminated. The better off are just competition for whatever is left. Automate even the ‘professional’ jobs and get rid of them too.
Of course it is presented as a benign, philanthropic dictatorship, necessary to ‘save the planet’. But the planet doesn’t actually need saving from anyone or anything except them! All their efforts to force it and us to obey them are like putting out a fire by pouring petrol on it. In reality, the plutocrats are interested only in saving themselves, their wealth and power. And inevitably they cannot help but fight each other, until everyone and everything is destroyed, even the supposed ‘winner’. The last words of the last plutocrat standing, surveying the wreckage that was once planet Earth will no doubt be ‘ Who cares, it’s all mine’.
But to return to Charles. Whatever he believes, whether he really understands what he has got himself into or not, he has been born and brought up to believe he is anointed of God, to rule by divine right rather than popular consent. It’s in his genes over countless generations. He didn’t go through that elaborate coronation ceremony to be a powerless quaint figurehead, or a ‘tourist attraction’. The British Royal family is staggeringly wealthy, with investments, property and legal rights all over the world.
As far as the American latter day ‘robber barons’ and ‘godfathers’ are concerned, their own astonishing wealth and power is its own justification. They generally each have more money that many entire countries (even more so after Covid). They rule through creating debt and enforcing payment. A bit of (self-serving) philanthropy is quite enough to buy support as needed and for ‘virtue signalling’ purposes. We must help them, they insist, because only they can fix the global crisis they themselves created. But their proposals for ‘saving the planet’ are really about saving the plutocrats, their power, lifestyle and philosophy from the planet, from us.
They cannot put out a fire by pouring petrol on it. They have all frightened themselves, because the more you have, the more you have to lose. They are all terrified of losing this endless war in which ‘as Sartre said, ‘Hell is other People’. They cannot help but fight each other. Maybe some of them are even starting to realise that there can be no ‘winners’. But still they put their faith in technology.
It is always the masses who must make sacrifices: we may not drive our cars, but private jets and super yachts are necessary to them. We are told that the world’s population is too high and must be reduced. That privacy, personal freedoms and other human rights are no longer possible. That everything, everyone, except themsleves of course, must be subject to complete, totalitarian control. Of course we must never question the need to carry on with oil extraction, deep sea mining, coercively rolling out their energy-hungry surveillance and control systems such as 5G and Internet of Things.
Let no-one question anything, let the Spiral of Silence reign. Even to mention the ‘Great Reset’ is strictly taboo. It is announced and denied in the same breath. It’s apparently both ‘inevitable’ and ‘misinformation’. The plutocrats are the modern Masters of War. Their 21st c weapons are electronic, biological, chemical and above all psychological. What NATO calls ‘cognitive warfare’ and the UK government call ‘behavioural psychology’ are so much more effective methods than nuclear annihilation.
But here is the truth: as the Buddha pointed out 2,500 years ago, everything is impermanent. Their philosophy is doomed to failure, because ecology simply doesn’t work like that. An ecosystem is alive, and for all its apparent sophistication a computer is no more than a tool used by humans for human purposes. Artificial intelligence is not real intelligence.
The planet and its living beings (including humans) are not mere ‘resources’ to be exploited and discarded like factory-farmed animals or concentration camp inmates.
Man does not and cannot rule the planetary ecosystem. We are simply part of that system. The intelligence we think so exclusive to humans in fact runs right through the system as a whole – just as the brain is not the exclusive seat of human intelligence. Once, planet Earth was believed to be at the centre of the universe, and humans at the centre of the web of life. We now see that things are just not that simple.
An ecosystem will grow, adapt, evolve, build resilience and complexity. It has the power to heal itself. And it is far older and wiser than a small number of narcissistic, psychopathic humans. It can take its time. If we are determined to fight nature for dominance, nature will always win. If we work within its overall framework for the benefit of the sytem as a whole, there are no losers.
People and nature are one. And that means our technology has to serve the ecosystem as a whole and build biodiversity. We see everywhere how nature grows and flourishes if we work with it and help it maintain its balances.
The collapse of the Great Reset is inevitable. It is already happening – the oligarchs are powerless to stop it. If we face and let go of our fear and despair, and ‘be the change’, we will build a new human society or ecosystem that learns from nature. Ecosystems have agency, and so do we. The Great Rebirth is already starting.
